So here’s the plan
I’m going to start posting some guides to singlespeeds and singlespeeding, looking at stuff like gearing, frame options, components, set up and other general crap that people might hopefully find usefull. Plenty of people pop by here every day for a wee look so if there’s anything you want to see or anything youcan contribute fire it in the comments or email me.
I’ll see how it goes and possibly even make the guides open so anyone can add their tuppence worth
Loving the dry drifty autumn trails today, nice riding something faster than a mud tyre in October. Pace today was woefull though, hopefully a few more rides and we’lll be blasting through the impending mud of the next few months. Lights are back out and been out in anger twice.
Also lusting after one of these since the roller left the building and I can’t afford a gazetta 
would be good for the tardree fire roads
got my name on a green one of these for september as the steam roller just didn’t fit right but really missing the fixed, thinking a nice silver and white build up, or maybe a yellow one with black bits new yawk taxi style. £450 for frame and fork, give me a buzz if you’re after one and I’ll hook you up

a carbon whyte 19 is a bad thing to be thinking about, doesn’t even have the nice adjustable dropouts
got the singlespeed legs back, bike is riding so well, new sids, strokers, cnt risers and ashima rotors all adding to the effect.

I think it might be out today for about 15mles of 32:17 joy with an icecream stop in a short sleeve jersey
about bloody time
insomnia- 5 or 6 hours sleep a night and i’m fine but being awake after 12 on a school night gives me the fear
old people- you can just smell the stamps can’t you mike
tarmac- no riding on dirt for a month makes simon a dull boy
fixed forget- it only takes one second but a brief lapse, slight lift and I’m like a fixed virgin again waiting for the bastard to bite me
I’ve always wantd to build my own frame and I think 2010 will be the year I finally get to do it. Not sure whether to book a course with Yates or just keep practicing with scrap metal and broken frames. Might try making a cargo trailer first as at least if it breaks I’m not likely to break my face.
I’ve found an old boy who says he’ll teach me to braze so I’m looking forward to new skills, i can weld a bit and love filing sanding and polihing so I think some smoothed fillets would be right up my street

Really loving the new bike, it makes me feel like a kid again. I’ll be doing something else then I remember it’s there and go out on it for half an hour (whether it’s dark or not)
The silence is the best part, no freewheel, not squeeky brakes just a faint whirr of the chain and the wind in my ears.
Winter means two things to me, snowy icy rides and an excuse to build a new bike for spring.
The snowy rides are going well (albeit with gears and suspension, the curtis got some new Sids and is waiting for new brakes to arrive)
The new bike looks like being one of these
